APEX is a bit different than traditional investment banks in a couple of ways.  First, we focus almost exclusively on small to medium sized technology companies which require a highly specialized skillset as compared to more traditional industries.  We can help to uncover hidden value by leveraging IP and other off-balance sheet intangibles in order to realize the best possible terms in a deal.

Secondly, we are not transaction driven but results driven.  We don’t believe in the “one and done” approach and strive to become a long-term strategic advisor for our clients. We’re firm believers in taking a step back and figuring out what is in the best interest of all stakeholders over the long run. Sometimes it makes sense not to sell your business and reposition it or allow it to mature in order to extract additional value.  Sometimes it makes sense not to raise growth capital prematurely in order to minimize dilution or bridge to a larger opportunity with better valuations.  Sometimes companies are thinking too small and need to strive for that “big hairy audacious goal”.  And sometimes companies are too conservative and don’t see the bigger play.

It’s our job to help entrepreneurs carve out a laser focused strategy designed to maximize shareholder value.  It’s also our job to take the burden of trying to sell the company or raise a round of capital off of management’s plate so that they can focus on running the business.   We will deeply analyze the needs of the business and work with management to develop a strategy that can be implemented today based on the objectives of stakeholders and the resources of the company.  In the end, we’re entrepreneurs just like you and are motivated by delivering tangible results.
